Israel: “There is a Holocaust in China,” Says Journalist, as Rally Marks 14 Years of Falun Gong’s Persecution in China (Photos)

August 10, 2013 | By a Falun Dafa practitioner in Israel

( “There is a Holocaust in China,” stated Israeli journalist and broadcaster Billy Beserglick in her speech in front of the Chinese Embassy in Tel Aviv on July 22, 2013.

“I’m the second generation after World War II Holocaust. My parents were in Auschwitz and miraculously survived. [Otherwise,] I might very well not be here now,” she said.

Israeli journalist and broadcaster Billy Beserglick speaks at the rally marking 14 years of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China.

Ms. Beserglick imagined a woman her age being held in a basement of a forced labor camp after torture, “It’s shocking that in 2013 a Holocaust occurs, and the world goes ‘business as usual.’”

“Those are terrible things,” she said of the crimes committed by the Chinese communist regime. “Organs are harvested from people in concentration camps!”

“We should not turn a blind eye!” she concluded.

On this summer day, two hundred people didn’t. They came to protest the regime’s crimes against humanity and its 14-year-long brutal persecution of millions of law-abiding citizens in China–practitioners of the ancient spiritual cultivation practice called Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong), who believe in the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance.

Over these years, the Chinese regime has directed officials and agencies at all levels of government, and state-owned enterprises, to carry out the persecution, spending billions of dollars and sparing no expense.

The peak of the horror is the use of Falun Gong practitioners as a source of organs for transplantation. In military hospitals and under heavy military supervision, organs have been harvested from people while they are still alive, so that the regime and its cadres can get a higher price. Tens of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners have been killed this way, and thousands more were killed through other types of horrific torture in forced labor camps and prisons across China.

Falun Dafa Association Spokesperson: Dispelling the Communist Regime’s Lies, We See Hope

“It was jealousy that stirred up the persecution,” explained Roy Bar-Ilan, a spokesperson for the Israeli Falun Dafa Association, “because it is an amazing cultivation practice. It became very popular very quickly in China, and then all of a sudden, tens of millions of good people became the largest group of prisoners of conscience in the world. The severity of the persecution – rape, shocks by electric batons, 45,000 to 60,000 organ harvesting cases, according to modest estimates – millions of people, of families, have suffered intensely and on an unparalleled scale.

“At first, everyone repeated the propaganda, and thus, in fact, promoted the persecution. Yesterday I found an article published in a major Israeli media in July 2001. It was written there that 14 practitioners had committed suicide in prison, and the prison authorities had ‘saved’ 11 others. It was also written that the Chinese government had decided to place Falun Gong practitioners in labor camps and monitor them around the clock as if they were worried about their safety. This story made me cry. In actuality, it should have been a report on the murder of the 14 practitioners, [who were just] like me, my wife and my children.”

Bar-Ilan continued, “We were able to overturn the lies that the Chinese regime created as part of its repression. Now people in the world do not believe the lies of the Chinese Communist Party. Yet many still can’t truly understand what Falun Gong is all about.

“To be a Falun Gong practitioner is to continuously try to improve oneself, to not blame others when encountering conflicts, but instead look inward, to not hit back when being attacked or sworn at, and to take loss and gain lightly.

“To be a Falun Gong practitioner is to get rid of selfishness and deviated thoughts. It is to strive to be considerate of others, to be an uncompromising moral example that does not bend in the face of profit or threat of any kind.

“In the face of the propaganda machine of the Chinese government, their media, embassies, and business and industrial relations all over the world, we are armed only with our hearts full of compassion and our determination to not let the evil, though influence, win the battle of humanity’s morality and future.

“We go out [to raise awareness about the persecution] day after day not for any gain, but because we believe that mankind still has hope, that the hearts of human beings still harbor morality and kindness… And the fact that you are here today proves that we are right, proves that there is hope.”

Epoch Times Director: “Silence Is What Allows These Crimes to Carry On”

“One cannot be neutral,” said Gilad Slonim, director of the Israeli edition of theEpoch Times at the rally. “We [Jews] have been through a genocide, where a dictator decided to destroy us because what we believed in did not suit him, and now we are directly or indirectly helping the same kind of a regime to carry out this persecution.

“Thus, one can’t be neutral in this battle. Everybody would like to be neutral, [thinking] ‘Why get involved? Why put this pain into my head? It’s happening so far away – it has nothing to do with us…’ This is not true! It is related to each and every one of us. Everyone today has to take a side.

“Not taking a proactive step against this persecution is equal to siding with it, since then you agree to be silent. Silence is what allows these crimes to carry on.”

“July 20th–a Great Shame in Mankind’s History”

Two Chinese Falun Gong practitioners living in Israel spoke in front of the Chinese Embassy, addressing not only the crowd, but also people at the embassy.

“In my opinion, the day of July 20th will remain as a great shame in history of mankind,” one of them said. “Why do I say so? Because 14 years ago on July 20th in China – such a big country with 1.3 billion people – the CCP [Chinese Communist Party] launched a brutal persecution of Falun Dafa.”

“Falun Dafa practitioners are people of good reputation in China,” she said. “There are many people who have a sense of justice and ask the 610 Office wicked policemen, ‘You do not catch the bad guys but specifically target good people. What kind of people are you?'”

“Some people have done a test with a mobile phone, sending out a text message. Messages with the words ‘truthfulness, compassion, forbearance’ [the main principles of Falun Gong] were blocked [by the regime]. But messages with the words ‘false, evil, fighting” were received. This shows to what extent the CCP has put China under its brutal control, so that the basic morality has been completely wiped out.

“However, the remaining goodness of Chinese people has begun to emerge as they learn the truth about the Communist regime. Now more than 140 million Chinese people have quit the CCP and its related organizations.”

Voices of Support for Falun Gong

Dr. Amir Shani from the New Liberal Movement called for the end to the persecution. In a taped interview he said, “We are here to express empathy and solidarity with innocent Falun Gong practitioners persecuted for no reason by the communist regime in China.” Many members of the New Liberal Movement group from various sides of the political map and social spectrum came to support the rally.

Rabbi Chaim Cohen from the Rabbis for Human Rights organization has attend numerous rallies calling for the end to the persecution of Falun Gong in China. In a powerful voice he declared, “We must stop the terrible persecution against Falun Gong!” He added that trading between Beijing and Jerusalem must take into account human rights.

Herzl Hakak, chairman of the Hebrew Writers Association, and Balfour Hakak, the organization’s former chairman, sent a statement to be read at the rally, “The phenomenon of psychiatric torture and organ harvesting is utterly shocking, both for their severity and scope, and for the betrayal of the ‘doctor’s oath,’ which every doctor takes to protect the sanctity of human life. Here in front of us, are physicians within the establishment [in China] … using their medical knowledge to violate human rights and endanger human life.”

Rabbi Shlomo Aviner also sent a letter of support, “Be strong and brave for the sake of justice and righteousness, for the protection of every person on Earth who is unjustly persecuted. This is our duty to protest and raise our voices. And when all voices are joined, it will eventually lead to salvation.”

“A Bleeding Lotus Flower”

The rally was accompanied by the sounds of an Erhu (an ancient Chinese stringed instrument) solo piece, “A Bleeding Lotus Flower.” The music was composed as a protest against the Chinese regime’s crimes of organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners.

The solo tells of a true story revealed in 2009 by a security guard who had witnessed in 2002 how two military surgeons harvested the heart and kidneys of a Falun Gong practitioner while she was still alive.

This practitioner had been illegally arrested because of her belief in Falun Gong. She was a teacher, and the devoted mother of a 12-year-old son. While she was held in custody, she was brutally and repeatedly raped by the police. They also tortured her and shocked her with electric batons for seven days.

She was then taken to the fifth floor of the General Military Hospital of Shen-Yang City. The surgeon cut open her chest without any anesthesia, while she was fully conscious and wide awake. When the surgeon cut her heart arteries, she died.

Her last words were, “Falun Dafa is Good!”

Practitioners Stand Up for Falun Gong in a Chinese Court of Law

February 15, 2013 | By a Minghui correspondent from Yunnan Province, China

( By the time five Falun Gong practitioners were brought to trial on January 21, 2013, they had already been illegally detained for over eight months. Falun Gong has been persecuted in China since 1999. These practitioners were tried in the Kunming City Intermediate Court, which, like all courts in China, is controlled by the communist regime. The five-hour trial of Mr. Ye and his family was the longest ever in the court’s history for Falun Gong-related cases.

The detained practitioners included Mr. Ye Baofu, former deputy director of Forestry Central Hospital; his wife, Ms. Yang Mingqing; their daughter, Ms. Ye Mao; Mr. Su Kun, teacher from the Yunnan National Defense Technology College; and his wife, Ms. Zhang Xiaodan.

Mr. Ye and his family displayed the characteristic compassion of Falun Gong practitioners to all those present in the courtroom. At every opportunity, they tried to help people to better understand the facts about the practice and choose the path free of hatred and persecution.

Mr. Ye’s wife said in her own defense: “Today, I once again stand here as a defendant, charged with ‘utilizing cult organizations to undermine law enforcement.’ My practice of Falun Gong is legal, and Falun Gong is not a cult. It teaches Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, is beneficial to the nation, and does not do any harm. Possession of Falun Gong books and materials is also completely legal.

“Every single person—every living being—in the world is the object of Dafa’s saving grace, including those who have persecuted Falun Gong. I have no resentment or hatred toward those who participate in the persecution; I just hope you can come to understand the truth. The less you persecute Falun Gong, the more hope there will be for you to have a bright future.”

Mr. Ye Demonstrates to the Court How Falun Gong Led a Death Row Inmate to Repent

Mr. Ye told the court how he had brought great positive changes to the thinking of a death row inmate by discussing the principles of Falun Gong with him in the Wuhua Detention Center.

The inmate had lost all hope and was intent on creating conflicts with everyone in the center, including the guards. He had even thought about killing the guards, thinking that no one could control him.

Hearing this, Mr. Ye asked to be assigned to the same cell and eventually got through to him by sharing his personal experiences with Falun Gong. The inmate eventually wrote a letter to Mr. Ye, saying that if he had heard about Falun Gong earlier, he would not have committed the crimes that put him on death row (and ultimately saw him executed). He asked Mr. Ye to show his letter to everyone in the judicial system. The presiding court judge accepted this letter as evidence of the righteousness of Falun Gong.

Mr. Ye’s story reflects the truth that Falun Gong can benefit anyone, and that there is hope for anyone who can treasure the opportunity of a lifetime and remember that Falun Gong is good, and Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.

Through testimony such as this, everyone in the courtroom witnessed and was touched by the compassion so often shown by Falun Gong practitioners.

Longest Falun Gong-Related Trial in the Court’s History

The trial took place on January 21, 2013, and lasted 5 ½ hours, from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., and again from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. According to the bailiff, this was the longest Falun Gong-related hearing in the court’s history.

In the early morning hours of January 21, the Kunming City Intermediate Courthouse began to fill. Those who had come to witness the trial ranged from 80-year-olds to small kids, and included many who hoped to help free the wrongly detained Falun Gong practitioners. They included the family members of the detained practitioners. Security personnel initially said that 30 of Mr. Su and Ms. Zhang’s relatives would be admitted. However, officials only admitted 8 of them to the courtroom, with only immediate family allowed in. Only a cousin from Mr. Ye’s entire family was allowed in.

Mr. Ye’s trial was held in courtroom No. 21. There were four bailiffs and only one family member present. The presiding judge was Yang Jie, and the clerks were Li Xinghu and Li Shichao.

First, the two public prosecutors, Tang Yaqin and Li Yunbing from the Kunming City Procuratorate, read out the indictment that, as is typical in such cases, consisted of the usual trumped up charges routinely leveled against Falun Gong practitioners. Mr. Ye’s attorneys refuted the charges one by one. There were three defense attorneys present, and they made a strong defense for Mr. Ye, his wife, and their daughter.

Right at the outset, the attorneys pointed out the prosecutors’ presentation of the charges was illegal, as the prosecutors had only read out the titles of the evidence without showing any actual evidence. In addition, they had read out all of the evidence at once, without allowing an opportunity for the defense to raise questions against each piece.

None of the three practitioners (Mr. Ye, his wife, and their daughter) had signed their interrogation record. Ms. Ye pointed out that no one had ever asked her to do it.

No actual physical evidence was presented and the photos of so-called “evidence” appeared negligent and unprofessional. Since police did not follow standard protocol as required by law to collect and process the evidence, the attorneys argued that it was illegal. (Editor’s note. Since the charges themselves are trumped up, accusing practitioners of a crime that doesn’t exist, the whole notion of “evidence” may seem somewhat puzzling, even comical, to the Western onlooker, but such is the current state of things in these show trials of Falun Gong practitioners)

Prosecutors said that the 610 Office had performed the “authentication” for these pieces of evidence; however, this organization lacks the authority to perform any such acts per law. The final pieces of “evidence” were the books and materials taken from Mr. Ye’s home, which consisted of Zhuan Falun and copies of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, as well as videos of Shen Yun Performing Arts.

Mr. Su and Ms. Zhang were originally scheduled to be tried after the trial of Mr. Ye’s family. Their trial finally began at 5 p.m., but the earlier trial had lasted so long, by 5:30 p.m. the second was adjourned and rescheduled.

Background on the Practitioners Involved

i) The family of former Forestry Central Hospital deputy director arrested and persecuted

In the early morning hours of May 4, 2012, a special task-force vehicle appeared in the residential area of Mr. Ye’s community. Several policemen arrested Mr. Ye, his wife, and daughter; took photos and video recordings; and conducted a full search of the premises. They confiscated a large number of personal belongings and cash, as well as cut Mr. Ye’s telephone line. They left after 2 p.m., leaving behind many cigarette butts in the corridor of Mr. Ye’s building. Mr. Ye’s family was detained at the Wuhua Detention Center.

Mr. Ye, 62, is the former deputy director of the Forestry Central Hospital. His wife, Ms. Yang, 59, is the former head of the Forestry Training Center. Mr. Ye’s daughter, Ms. Ye, 34, lost her job after police’s harassment of her employer. The family has been persecuted for their belief in Falun Gong for over a decade.

On April 4, 2000, when Mr. Ye and his wife went to the Yunnan provincial government to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong, they were detained for 30 days. On August 15, 2001, he and his family were arrested at their temporary shelter by the Panlong District Domestic Security Division and the Riot Police Division. Mr. Ye and his wife were sentenced to two years of forced labor, and their daughter to one year of forced labor.

On January 10, 2005, Mr. Ye and his daughter were once again arrested at home by the Panlong District Domestic Security Division and the 610 Office. Their home was ransacked. Mr. Ye’s wife was also arrested at her workplace. They were all held in the Panlong District Second Detention Center. Mr. Ye was later sentenced to five years in prison, while his wife and daughter were each sentenced to three years in prison. Mr. Ye and his wife were also fired from their jobs.

ii) Teacher of the Yunnan National Defense Technology College and his wife arrested

Mr. Su and his wife, Ms. Zhang, lived in Room 301, Unit 1, Building 2 of the dormitory on the World Expo campus of the Yunnan National Defense Technology College in the Panlong District of Kunming City. Since the communist regime began it persecution of Falun Gong, the couple has been routinely harassed and persecuted by the Panlong District Police Department.

On December 6, 2004, when Mr. Su Kun gave his students CDs with information about Falun Gong, a parent reported him to the police. Mr. Su was arrested by officers from Panlong District Domestic Security Division. He was sentenced to three years of forced labor and imprisoned at the Ward No. 3 of the Yunnan Province No. 2 Forced Labor Camp. On June 28, 2007, he was transferred to Ward No. 1, and his prison term was extended by seven months. Mr. Su returned home in July 2008.

On May 4, 2012, Mr. Su and Ms. Zhang were arrested at home by officers from the Panlong District Domestic Security Division. Police ransacked their home and confiscated their desktop computer, laptop, external hard drive, cell phone, and Falun Gong books, among other things. The two practitioners were incarcerated at the No. 2 and No. 1 Panlong District detention centers, respectively. Ms. Zhang was beaten at the detention center.

CCP Officials Take Note: Atonement, Not Suicide, Is the Only Way Out

January 15, 2013 | By a Falun Gong practitioner in Mainland China

( Only a few days into 2013, multiple reports have surfaced that officials of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) have committed suicide. On January 8, Qi Xiaolin, deputy chief of the Guangzhou City Police Department, hanged himself. On the night of January 9, Zhang Wanxiong, deputy president of the Liangzhou District Court in Wuwei City, Gansu Province, jumped from the sixth floor of a courthouse office building. His body was not discovered until the next morning. The police reported that a note was found with him. If one carefully looks at the facts, it seems apparent that the suicides are related to the imminent abolishment of the CCP forced labor system (laogai), and to the immeasureable blood debts the CCP judicial system owes to Falun Gong.

Average citizens may not yet be aware, but CCP officials know full well that its forced labor system is illegal; even more so is the persecution of Falun Gong. The CCP judicial system has knowingly violated the law in carrying out the persecution of Falun Gong, and the dark secrets and blood debts it owes to Falun Gong are shocking to say the least. All those officials who have engaged in the persecution have done so with a gambler’s mindset. They are aware that as soon as the dark secrets are exposed, the law will not spare them the death penalty when they are brought to justice.

The law can protect people’s lives, including the lives of law enforcement officers. One who abides by the law will commit no crimes, so there is no need to atone for his crimes. Yet the presumptuous CCP bends the law to its own will, piling up debt upon mounting debt of crimes as it cavalierly tramples the law. When it is time for the final settlement, who can bear the grave consequences?

I heard this old saying often cited by my mother, “When a man is about to die, this is when he is most anxious to live.” I have a heavy heart toward those who committed suicide because Master Li has told us that “committing suicide is a sin.” (“Explaining the Fa During the 2003 Lantern Festival at the U.S. West Fa Conference”) Regardless of what those who hold atheistic views may think, a person cannot dodge responsibility by choosing to end his life. Committing suicide on top of having committed heinous crimes only adds to one’s sinful debt, which as I understand it, will be settled in Hell.

The lives of those who committed suicide cannot be brought back. Here I would like to tell other CCP officials who are thinking about committing suicide: “Do not kill yourself! Do not add another sin on top of your other sins! Life is precious. The one who deserves the most severe punishment is Jiang Zemin. If one is thinking about committing suicide, this is evidence that this person still has some conscience. Make good use of this remaining conscience to make public what you know about the CCP’s dark secrets of the persecution of Falun Gong. Atone for your sins with acts of kindness and repentance, and help Falun Gong practitioners who are still under persecution. Gods and Buddhas are merciful: they will help those willing to return to the path of righteousness from one that is devious. Only the perpetrators who are too stubborn to change their minds will end up scapegoats of the CCP.

If one thinks that by choosing suicide, one will be able to leave wealth to his family, think twice. What kind of life will your loved ones lead with the money you wrongfully made at the cost of your life? Aren’t they living off your corpse? Do you think they will have peace of mind? Don’t make a foolish choice. Atonement, not committing suicide, is the only way out.

Indonesia: Falun Gong Practitioners Expose the Chinese Communist Party’s Organ Harvesting Crimes in Jakarta (Photos)

November 15, 2012 | By a Falun Dafa practitioner from Indonesia

( Falun Dafa practitioners of Jakarta protested in front of Chinese Embassy on November 8-12, 2012 for the brutal persecution of Falun Gong in China, and called for an immediately stop of live organ harvesting from jailed Falun Gong practitioners.

During the protest, the practitioners collected signatures from the public to support the petition so as to let the public learn the truth about the persecution in China. Many people signed their names in support of Falun Gong. A plainclothes police officer learned the truth, signed his name on the form, and said he was angry about the crimes going on in China.

Singapore: Rally Held to Protest Zhou Yongkang’s Visit (Photos)

September 19, 2012
( On September 15, Falun Gong practitioners in Singapore held a rally in Fanglin Park, protesting Zhou Yongkang’s visit. Zhou is the Secretary of the Central Political and Legislative Affairs Committee (PLAC) of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), and one of the main culprits behind the persecution of Falun Gong.

The rally

Practitioners demonstrated the exercises and displayed banners that said “Disintegrate the CCP and Stop the Persecution,” “Bring the Perpetrators [of the Persecution] to Justice,” and “Falun Dafa Is Good.”

Dr. Huang Weiqiang, the chair of the Falun Dafa Association in Singapore, gave a speech at the rally. Dr. Huang said: “According to the report by the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG), Zhou Yongkang has been actively involved in the persecution of Falun Gong since 1999, and has played a major role in it. In April 2012, WOIPFG published a record of a phone conversation, which indicated that Zhou Yongkang has played a behind-the-scenes role in organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners.” Dr. Huang called upon the Singapore government to recognize the evil nature of the CCP and help to protect justice.

Mr. Li, a local practitioner who attended the event, said: “Zhou’s hands are stained with Falun Gong practitioners’ blood, so he is not welcome in Singapore. We cannot allow him to pollute this land. Zhou will be brought to justice.” Vic, another local practitioner, said: “More and more people in the world have seen the CCP’s true colors, and more and more Chinese have quit the party. We hope the governments around the world will also make the right choice.”

Many tourists and local citizens stopped to watch the rally. In the same park, there was an event celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival. Many Chinese tourists and students were at the event. They were surprised to see the Falun Gong event. Many of them took pictures and listened to the speeches at the rally.

Washington DC: Grand March of Nearly 5,000 Practitioners Marks 13 Years of Efforts to Raise Awareness of the Persecution in China (Photos)

July 15, 2012 | By Xiao Yan and Zhang Yun in Washington DC

( Nearly 5,000 Falun Gong practitioners from around the world, including Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Australia, comprising different ethnicities and races, gathered at noon on July 13, 2012 for a rally and march in Washington DC. They wanted to let people know the wonderfulness of Falun Dafa and at the same time protest the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) 13 years of inhuman persecution of the practice. They also called upon the American government, the governments of other countries, and people from all walks of life to express their support to stop the persecution of Falun Gong.

The procession set off from John Marshall Park, traveled down Pennsylvania Avenue and Constitution Avenue, and ended at Constitution Gardens. It took nearly 2 hours to complete the 1.5-mile parade route.

The procession was divided into several themed sections, including, “Falun Dafa Has Spread Far and Wide Around the World,” “Injustice in China – Falun Gong Persecuted,” and, “Support the 120 Million Chinese People Who Have Resigned from the CCP and Its Affiliates.” Colorful banners and placards reading “Falun Dafa Is Good,” “The World Needs Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance,” “Stop the Persecution of Falun Gong” and other messages formed a magnificent scene along Pennsylvania Avenue.

Tears of Sadness for the Persecuted Falun Gong Practitioners

Mr. Zheng, a chef for a restaurant in New York, has been in the U.S. for 11 years. He traveled to DC today to relax and have some fun, and saw the grand march as soon as he arrived. Zheng said that he often saw information about Falun Gong on the Internet, and also knew that Falun Gong has been severely persecuted in China. He said, “The CCP is too cruel. Thirteen years… it is time to stop the persecution. Such a good group of people, who have done nothing but meditation and exercises. Why treats them so cruelly?” Mr. Zheng wept, and stopped speaking here.

Robert applauds to express his support as the procession passes by

Robert, who watched the parade, cried upon seeing the practitioners dressed in white carrying flower-wreathed placards with photos of individual Falun Gong practitioners who died from persecution in China. He sobbed and said, “I’m sad! Really sad! There’s no reason to subject people to such persecution.” Robert added that he understood from the march that Falun Gong is a peaceful practice, and a group of compassionate people, but they are persecuted in China. “They have not done any harm to anybody, they only want freedom. They should have human rights. I give my best wishes to them!” said Robert.

The Persecution Is Ongoing

At the starting point of the march, the reporter saw a young lady who looked worried. She told the reporter that five members of her family were arrested for practicing Falun Gong only 10 days ago by the CCP. The young woman recounted, “On the evening of July 1, 2012, officers from the Xining Police Department in Liaoyuan City, Jilin Province broke into my home and took my parents Liu Jingli and Zhang Jinghua into custody. They took away cash, our computer, TV set and many other personal belongings. The same evening, officers from the Nankang Police Department in Liaoyuan City also took my uncle Liu Jingjun and his wife Ms. Kang Limin into custody on July 3. They took away more than 10,000 yuan from my uncle’s home, and most of their personal belongings. My cousin Liu Xinyu is only 17 years old. He was also arrested by officers from the Dongji Police Department on July 2. The five of them are currently held in the Xiangyang Detention Center. My relatives went to demand their release, but the officials threatened that they would repatriate me to China.”

The young lady is Liu Junchen. She began practicing Falun Gong in 1997. When she was 7 years old, she was hospitalized with a terminal illness—thrombocytopenic purpura, a condition of having an abnormally low platelet count. The doctors told her mother that there was no hope for Junchen.

Junchen was discharged from hospital and stayed with her grandma who was a Falun Gong practitioner. Junchen felt very comfortable at her grandma’s home and soon she regained her health and started practicing Falun Gong with her grandma. Her mother witnessed the miraculous effects of Dafa and joined in the cultivation practice with Junchen’s father. Junchen’s uncle suffered from bone tuberculosis. His lower back bowed 90 degrees, and the side effect of the medications he took caused him to become almost completely deaf. He lost the ability to work. Junchen’s mother introduced him to Falun Dafa. Junchen’s uncle soon recovered his health. His hearing returned to normal, and his entire family of three practiced Falun Gong together.

“Dafa gave us a happy life, but the CCP started the persecution. My family’s telephone was often tapped, my mother was followed many times, and my teacher threatened to report me to the police because I gave my classmates CDs about Falun Gong. Under those kinds of circumstances, I was unable to study and work. I came to the U.S. last September,” said Junchen.

Keeping Silent in the Face of Evil Is Equivalent to Committing a Crime”

Mr. Lu Dong, spokesperson for the Christian Demoratic Party, along with 41 members of the organization, made a special trip from New York to take part in the Falun Gong activities in DC. They have participated in the event for six consecutive years. Mr. Lu said, “It’s not justified to persecute Falun Gong, because people are free to believe what they want to believe.”

Mr. Lu shared his understanding of why the CCP persecutes Falun Gong. Mr. Lu believes that Falun Gong’s principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance reflect the universal values of humankind. The CCP can’t tolerate them, because the CCP follows evil principles, fighting with heaven, earth and people.

“As an ordinary citizen, you should have a conscience. When you see a robber killing people on the street, and you keep silent, are you a good person? Remaining silent in the face of evil is equivalent to commiting a crime,” said Mr. Lu.

Coming to DC 13 Times in the Past 13 Years to Voice One Concern – Stop the Persecution

Ms. Zhi Jing from Canada said, “ It has been 13 years since I first came to DC to participate in this event, on July 22, 1999. I’ve come here 13 times to voice one concern: ‘Stop the persecution.’”

“As a Falun Gong practitioner who has benefited from Dafa, I know Falun Gong is a good practice that can benefit individuals, families and society. I was shocked when I heard that a persecution had begun in China. I had no idea what to do at the time, but just felt that I should make our voice heard – calling for an end to the persecution,” said Zhi Jing.

Stop the Persecution Immediately

Parade spectator Gwen told the reporter as she held a small paper lotus flower, “I work nearby. I’m glad to see this parade every year. It’s very peaceful and spectacular.”

She continued, “Unfortunately, Falun Gong is such a good group but it is persecuted so cruelly in China. I admire their efforts to raise people’s awareness about the persecution in a variety of ways. I believe they will definitely succeed! I appeal here: The CCP must stop the persecution immediately!”

Tourists Judy (R) and Claudia (L) from New York have a photo taken with a Falun Gong practitioner

Judy and Claudia were visiting Washington from New York. Judy said, “I know there are many Falun Gong practitioners in New York. I didn’t expect to see so many of them here. I feel that such a grand parade should go to the Chinese Consulate, because the CCP severely persecutes Falun Gong. What is wrong with doing meditation and exercises?! Everyone should stop the acts of human rights abuses.”

Claudia said, “I have learned some about the persecution of Falun Gong in newspapers and the news. I’m really touched to see such a maganificant scene today. I support them. The persecution must stop now! Falun Gong will definitely win!”

Our Family Is Lucky”

Ragnhild (L) and his family

Ragnhild’s family of four, from Norway, were visiting the Capital city together. It was the first time for them to see the Falun Gong parade. Ragnhild said, “A very peaceful parade, the first time we see it. Our family is very lucky to get such a good message in Washington DC. We will learn more about it online when we get back.”

Washington DC resident Sheila

Another spectator, Washington DC resident Sheila, said, “This is a very beauitful parade. The music is inspiring, and the exercise demonstration is peaceful, but it is inconceivable that it is persecuted in China. I will learn more online. I appreciate getting this message today.”

Persecution Abroad

July 15, 2010 | Falun Dafa Information Center

( It is our belief that when the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong in China has been fully revealed, the persecution will come to an end, since the world will simply not be able to tolerate it. That China’s communist leaders have gone to such great lengths to hide and cover up their actions since 1999 indicates that they believe this, also.

To this end, the following is one in a special series of articles designed to more comprehensively expose and chronicle the persecution of Falun Gong in China in all of its many facets. We invite our readers to check back with us on a daily basis this month for more articles which document the crimes against humanity committed by the Chinese Communist Party over the past eleven years of persecuting Falun Gong.

Previous articles in this series:

In October 2000, top Chinese Communist Party leader Jiang Zemin ordered to “intensify the struggle” against Falun Gong overseas, according to a leaked Party document. Since then, adherents of the Falun Gong outside China have seen their tires slashed, their homes vandalized, their e-mail accounts hacked and their phones tapped; they have received death threats, have been beaten and even shot.

In addition to blatant hate crimes, at the documented instigation of Chinese embassies and consulates they have also been barred from joining community cultural events, have been denied restaurant services, and have been spied on by colleagues and classmates.

Here are a few examples of incidents that took place in the United States. These were cited in a House of Representatives resolution (HCR 304) condemning the extension of the persecution overseas, which was passed in 2003:

  • Five Falun Gong practitioners were assaulted while distributing leaflets outside the Chicago Chinese Consulate. The two assailants, who were convicted of battery, were members of a Chinese-American organization with close ties to the consulate.
  • The Chinese Consulate in San Francisco wrote to the mayor of Saratoga, urging him to retract a proclamation honoring the contributions of the Falun Gong to his community.
  • Between 1999 and 2003, the apartment of Falun Gong spokeswoman Gail Rachlin was broken into five times. The only items taken were her address book, tax records, and Falun Gong-related materials.

(for more on Resolution 304, including the full text, see

Until he defected in 2005, Mr. Chen Yonglin worked as a diplomat in the Sydney Chinese Consulate. But his disgust at what he was required to do on a daily basis – monitor and sabotage the activities of Australians who practice Falun Gong or support other persecuted groups in China – led him to walk out of the consulate and seek asylum.

Secret documents that Chen smuggled out with him show how oppression of the Falun Gong outside of China has not been limited to the United States. Here are a few of the more prominent cases:

Iceland: In June 2002, hundreds of Falun Gong adherents were barred from entering Iceland to join peaceful demonstrations during a visit by Jiang Zemin. They were stranded at airports around the world after being denied boarding on flights based on a blacklist supplied by Chinese authorities, an act the Icelandic Ombudsman later ruled illegal. (

South Africa: In June 2004, gunmen opened fire on a car of visiting Chinese Falun Gong adherents, seriously injuring one man’s feet. The group had just arrived in Johannesburg intent to serve Chinese officials Zeng Qinghong and Bo Xilai with a lawsuit over crimes against humanity. []

Argentina: In December 2005, ethnic Chinese assailants punched and kicked a group of Falun Gong adherents in Buenos Aires in front of national media. The attack came the day after a visiting top Chinese official, Luo Gan, was served with a lawsuit for torture and crimes against humanity. A year earlier, during a visit by Party leader Hu Jintao, thirty Chinese men attacked Falun Gong practitioners, cutting their banners with knives. [photo: story:]

In addition to incidents of this nature, which have been documents in over 30 countries, the persecution is felt worldwide in several other ways:

(1) Propaganda attacking Falun Gong that originates from the Communist Party has been spread seemingly everywhere, leading to bigotry and suspicion toward the Falun Gong internationally. While much of this situation has been rectified as people have gotten to know those who practice Falun Gong and what the discipline stands for, the effects of this smear campaign, which began in 1999, can still be felt today.

For instance, practitioners of Falun Gong living in the U.S., Australia, and Europe – including many who are not Chinese – report being denied jobs or academic opportunities because of their religious beliefs.

Of course, another reason for international discrimination against the Falun Gong is that some fear that if they are seen as associating with Falun Gong they might lose business opportunities in China or collaborative programs with the Chinese regime.

(2) Chinese people living in the diaspora have felt discriminated in their own communities because of their spiritual discipline and their choice to openly speak out for human rights in China. In addition to receiving death threats, they have also been barred from community activities.

Ms. Wang Xiaodan, for instance, told of how she was singled out at her University of Minnesota Chinese student club ( The elderly Ms. Huang Daiming won a lawsuit after an Ottawa Chinese seniors club revoked her license because she practices Falun Gong (

(3) Chinese practitioners of Falun Gong living outside of China can rarely return to mainland China to visit their family, including elderly parents. Often they cannot even communicate freely over the phone as these are tapped either in China or abroad and the family in China fear punishment.

The Chinese Government Never Officially “Banned” Falun Gong, Part 3

July 23, 2010 | By a practitioner from outside China

( After July 20, 1999, media or even scholarly works outside of China have often used the words, “The Chinese government has banned Falun Gong since July of 1999.” It is my belief that the Chinese Communist Party has never had a legal basis for its eleven-year persecution of Falun Gong, because the Chinese government never officially banned Falun Gong. I won’t delve into the subject of the current Chinese government’s legitimacy itself since its inception in 1949 for now, but even according to the Chinese government’s own laws, the persecution by the CCP and Jiang Zemin’s gang is illegal.

The first cause of most people’s confusion is seeing the “CCP” and the “Chinese government” as being interchangeable, or even mixing up the head of the CCP with China the country or the Chinese government as an entity. The second cause is that the CCP intentionally uses this term in its propaganda to confuse public opinion. A third cause is their lack of understanding of what it means to ban something in a legal sense.

III. The Persecution of Falun Gong Was Initiated by Jiang Zemin’s Illegal, Personal Decision, and a Political Movement Resulting from Attempts by Jiang Zemin, the CCP, and the Chinese Government to Use Each Other. It Is Anything But the Implementation of Law.

The below are excerpts from internal CCP documents, speeches, and correspondence, illustrating the fact that the persecution resulted from Jiang and the CCP using and helping each other to their own ends.

A. On April 27, 1999, the Secretariat’s Office of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party issued a secret document entitled, “Notice regarding printing and distributing the the letter from comrade Jiang Zemin to the Standing Committee of the Politburo and other senior leaders.” The notice required CCP members to study the letter written by Jiang on the evening of April 25, one that is filled with jealousy, paranoia, and vicious lies. The notice required that all CCP members study the contents, implement them, and report back to the Central Committee. Based on this notice, Jiang was the person who turned the truth upside down regarding the Falun Gong practitioners peaceful, legitimate appeal on April 25. The letter itself and this notice also implied that his will was imposed upon the higher levels of the Chinese government, as the request was not for commentary or feedback, but rather to study and implement the content.

B. By looking at the content of Jiang’s letter, we can find several striking mistruths that served as alarming signs of an impending political movement.

  • “Do they have some kind of relationship with forces outside of China, specifically the West, and is there a ‘hidden master’ controlling things behind the scenes?” – A baseless accusation that is to lend an excuse for the persecution.
  • “Could it be that the Marxism that is common to all of us Communists, and the materialism and atheism that we believe in, cannot defeat that bunch of stuff that Falun Gong is propagating? If that were really the case, wouldn’t that be the biggest joke!” – The basis for the ideological side of the persecution that Jiang intends to start.
  • “This incident points out the extent to which the political-ideological work and the work with the masses have fallen in certain places and departments. We must educate the broader cadres and the masses with the correct world view, life view, and value system… It is high time that the leaders at each level, especially the senior level leaders, wake up!” This is a sign that the persecution was started without the initial backing of the high-level officials and a decision made by Jiang, and therefore it was necessary to “educate the broader cadres” and to have the senior leaders “wake up.”

C. A second secret document was also issued by the Secretariat’s Office of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, this time requiring CCP members to “Study and implement comrade Jiang’s speech during the Central Committee Politburo meeting regarding the urgent handling and resolution of the ‘Falun Gong problem'”. This document was issued on June 7, 1999, and the direct result of this speech was the establishment of the {610 Office} three days later. Jiang said in his speech, “The Falun Gong problem has a deep socio-political background, even a complex international background. This is the most severe incident since that political crisis in 1989. We must face it seriously, look into it deeply, and implement forceful countermeasures.” The fact that Jiang places the “Falun Gong problem” in the context of the 1989 June 4 Tiananmen Massacre is another indication that a full-fledged, nationwide persecution is about to commence.

D. This speech further stated, “The Central Committee has agreed to establish a special task force to deal with the ‘Falun Gong problem’, to be headed up by comrade Li Lanqing. Comrade Li Lanqing will serve as the task force leader, with comrades Ding Guangen and Luo Gan serving as deputy leaders, and the comrades responsible for the relevant departments serving as task force members, thereby centrally determining the specific steps, methods, and means to deal with the ‘Falun Gong problem.’ The Central Committee and government organs, ministries, and commissions at each province, autonomous region, and directly controlled municipalities must cooperate closely with this effort.” The task force mentioned here is the predecessor to the “Leadership Group for the Chinese Communist Central Committee in Dealing with the Falun Gong Problem”, and its subordinate organization “Office of the Leadership Group for the Chinese Communist Central Committee in Dealing with the Falun Gong Problem.” This office also became known as the “610 Office” based on the date on which it was established. This Gestapo-like organization reached every province and city and permeated the government at each level, using the people’s hard-earned money to persecute kind people and committing a litany of crimes over the past eleven years. There are a couple of points to be made here. One is that the 610 Office was established based on Jiang’s personal decision. Usually, the “Central Committee” refers to the the “Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party” or the “Politburo of the Chinese Communist Party”, in other words, a reference to the CCP rather than the Chinese government. In this case, Jiang’s speech about the formation of the “leadership task force” was made to the Politburo, informing them of the decision, rather than bringing up an agenda item. If this decision by the “Central Committee” were made at a previous meeting, then there would be no need for Jiang to inform the same committee of its earlier decision, so the only logical explanation is that Jiang made the decision on behalf of the committee and then informed them of “their” decision. In other words, the “decision by the central committee” was in reality a decision by Jiang as an individual. In allowing this to come to pass and thus the long-term political movement that is the persecution of Falun Gong, the current party bosses of the CCP have an undeniable responsibility.

E. The pronouncement of “the Central Committee and government organs, ministries, and commissions at each province, autonomous region, and directly controlled municipalities must cooperate closely with this effort” in effect gave the 610 Office power to supersede the existing political infrastructure in accomplishing its goals. Even though the government at all levels were to cooperate with that organization, it was accountable only to Jiang himself. Before Jiang stepped down, it was a persecution tool at Jiang’s direct disposal.

F. This speech also required the leadership group to gather information about the situation of past and present Falun Gong practitioners, yet these “situations” were predetermined. Soon after this speech, false allegations of Falun Gong practitioners “suffering psychosis, committing suicided, 1,400 deaths due to not taking medicine” quickly sprung up as a result of the 610 Office’s baseless charges.

G. Another document was issued in between the above two notices, “Notice from the the Secretariat’s Office of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party Regarding Distributing the Notice by Comrade Jiang to the Central Committee Politburo, Secretariat, and Military Commission”. This was issued around May 25, immediately preceding the provincial Communist Standing Committee meetings held on May 28. Currently, we do not have a copy of this document. Judging from a provincial-level document “Notice Regarding Seriously Implementing the Spirit of Document 19” issued by the Hebei Province Communist Committee Secretariat, the content of that notice was to secretly prepare for the persecution of Falun Gong. This document was discovered by the Hebei Provincial government General Affairs Agency’s Human Resources Deputy Section Chief Xu Xinmu. The Shijiazhuang Falun Gong Assistance Center assistant Duan Rongxin and Xu Xinmu were sentenced to five and four years in prison, respectively, for this document getting out.

H. On June 14, 1999, major Chinese media reported on “Key Points Regarding Appeals Office Leadership Receiving Falun Gong Appellants”. These reports refuted rumors regarding an impending persecution, and reiterated the theme of those who spoke with Falun Gong representatives on April 25, “The government at various levels have never banned any normal qigong exercises that strengthens health; people have the freedom of belief and to practice a given qigong, as well as to disbelieve a given qigong. It is normal to have differing views or criticisms, and they may reflect their views through normal channels and formats.” So Jiang’s secret documents either countermanded the public policy of the Communist Party and the government, or these reports were part of his own plan.

I. At the APEC meetings held in New Zealand during September, 1999, Jiang did something highly unusual and unseemly to his role. He gave booklets demonizing Falun Gong to various state leaders, including then U.S. President Bill Clinton. This is another sign of how personal this was for Jiang

J. On October 25, 1999, immediate prior to a state visit to France, Jiang gave a written interview to French newspaper Le Figaro. Again Jiang slandered Falun Gong, and prior to any CCP documents or media did so, and branded it a “cult.” This is another sign of Jiang’s personal obsession with the persecution and his role as the driving force behind it.

Two days later, the CCP-run People’s Daily ran a special editorial entitled “Falun Gong is a Cult.” On October 30, the National People’s Congress Standing Committee ratified “Decision Regarding Banning Cult Organizations, and Being on Guard Against and Punishing Cult Activities.” This decision was latter illegitimately called the “anti-cult law.” Despite that, the decision never referenced Falun Gong, the unconstitutional nature of the decision notwithstanding.

In summary, the persecution initiated against Falun Gong on July 1999 was initiated by CCP leader Jiang Zemin’s letters, speeches, directives, followed by a series of CCP-issued documents. These were the driving force behind this political, persecutory movement, accompanied by the overwhelming slander and smear campaign by the CCP propaganda machine. This persecution is not a case of a legitimate government enforcing its laws. Of course, a government has no right to persecute its people this way, or it would be, in the process of doing so, removing its own legitimacy. The responsibility for the continuation of this persecution after Jiang stepped down, however, falls squarely on the shoulders of the current CCP leadership.
